Marion Chaygneaud-Dupuy “4 years to clean the roof of the world”

MoHoTalks #20 – Marion Chaygneaud-Dupuy, Buddhist, mountaineer, activist

In April 2016, Marion Chaygneaud-Dupuy, Buddhist, mountaineer, environmental activist climbs Everest for a project that will carry it for 4 years.

At the request of the Tibetans, Marion and 50 climbers will engage in a Historic challenge. In 4 years, with 3 expeditions, the teams will clean up the north face of Everest. 10 tonnes of waste will be collected and the operation will have a huge impact on 2 to 3 billion people living in the South Asian basin by giving them access to cleaner water. More importantly, it is a change of mind that is taking place. Because if the source of water is polluted why should we take care of rivers? If the source is pure, it imposes a new respect, new behaviors.

For 1 hour, and during this last MoHoTalk of the season, we will discuss with Marion 3 themes: 1- Relive the physical and mental feat of climbing Everest 3 times. (Only European to have achieved this feat). 2- To live these expeditions and understand how everyone has to coordinate at such high altitudes. 3- To address the necessarily geopolitical subject that this adventure has produced between Tibet and China.

Mélanie Marcel “Scientific Research at the service of the common good”

MoHoTalks #16 – Mélanie Marcel, Founder and CEO of SoScience

As early as 2003, many scientists had warned of a global pandemic risk related to the Coronavirus. All had then insisted on doing research on this subject. Yet the warning was not heard by governments and especially by companies that have the capacity to finance and accelerate this research.

One obvious reason is the importance of the economic prism which too often guides research. Worse, in the race for vaccines, we have seen how far the association of research to the common good has been able to confront geopolitical, capitalist and ideological issues.

To paraphrase Jean Tirole – Nobel Prize 2014, MoHo in this 16th MoHo Talks asks us: “Where has the search for the common good gone?”

For this exchange we are pleased to invite Mélanie Marcel, founder and CEO of SoScience, an innovation platform that aims to put scientific research at the service of society and the common good.

With it, we return – without filter – on the current situation of Scientific Research, its limits, its inconsistencies or its fragilities but also on this profound change that is born and that could, Tomorrow, put the right place Scientific Research at the service of Nature and Human.

Mikaa MERED «The Arctic and Antarctic poles, major challenges of the 21st century!»

MoHoTalks #11 – Mikaa Mered, Geopolitics Lecturer and Teacher

What is the current geopolitical situation in the Arctic and Antarctic? What are the challenges and opportunities of these territories? What actors are present in these geographical areas and what is the role for France and Europe? Ice melts on both sides. But the stakes are not the same. What is the impact of global warming on the Arctic and Antarctic? How are they protected? The Arctic is a major issue for Washington, so ensuring its security is a critical national security issue. Why did Donald Trump propose to buy Greenland? triggering a diplomatic crisis with Denmark.

“Between majesty and melting ice, preservation and militarisation, strong desires and fragile governance, the polar worlds present strategic dilemmas that are not well known but omnipresent in current events.” Very few states have a bipolar view of the polar issues.

Hello Tommorow, Makesense, Schoolab, Maddyness and Sogood invite Mikaa Mered, professor of pole geopolitics and author of the book “Les Mondes Polaires» to take the floor to answer all these questions about these geographical areas that have become a real economic Eldorado for companies but also for the major political powers.

Helen Patton «S’inspirer du D-Day pour (re)construire demain»

MoHoTalks #12 – Helen Patton, Chairman of the Patton Alliance
